Brainerd Real Estate
Brainerd may not be the geographical center of Minnesota, but it is certainly the heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area. Residents and visitors alike can find over 460 lakes to enjoy within a 25-mile trip from Brainerd. Brainerd may be surrounded by many beautiful lakes, but that isn't all that the city is known for. The city's locals are very friendly and they are welcoming new residents each day, people who are seeking the quality of life that only a town like Brainerd can offer.
Railroad shops and sawmills brought growth to this area and because of that the place was known as "The Crossing". Founded in 1870, Brainerd received its name from the wife of the first president of the Northern Pacific Railroad. With all the attractions that call Brainerd home, it's no wonder that this area is known as one of Minnesota's premier vacation destinations. However, the locals know that Brainerd is more than just a place to visit. It shows that they consider this a great place to live with all the invested efforts that have been put into the community to make it even better.
Surrounded by Minnesota's unique scenery, filled with majestic forests and vibrant fauna, Brainerd's population of nearly 14,000-including the legendary Paul Bunyan-has lots of recreation to choose from. Many places of fine dining, a variety of stores to browse through, fantastic golfing ranges, and (of course) the very best in fishing and boating opportunities call this place home. Brainerd's residents and visitors also have access to a wide variety of local, state and federal parks. A short distance away are the Pillsbury and Cuyana State Recreational Areas that have miles of hiking and biking trails that will fulfill the adventurous spirit in all.
Brainerd has many other highlights, including the non-profit Northland Arboretum, that has 583 acres that are devoted to the arboretum and nature reserve, and the Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center, the place to go to learn all about the unique land and wildlife in the area and how to protect them. There's also the Brainerd International Raceway, for those who want to speed up their adventures. This 3.1 mile road course, kart track and drag strip hosts the National Hot Rod Association's Nationals. Brainerd also has a wide variety of art and performance attractions that provides significant resources for cultural growth for the locals and vacationers alike.
Brainerd has a very bright future when you consider all the great opportunities that are here in the area. Brainerd's population is growing faster compared to the rest of Minnesota and the commercial and residential growth that is increasing each year brings up the property values. Since taxes remain below average for the state, it's no wonder that so many are choosing Brainerd as their home.
With so many incredible activities going on in Brainerd, it's no surprise that the legendary Paul Bunyan called it home-and so can you!
